おお！キューピッドはどんな目をわたしの頭に埋め込んだのだろうか
それは現実の視界とは対応していない
もし対応しているのだとすればわたしの理性はどこに行ってしまったのだろうか？
それはわたしの目が正確にとらえたものを歪めてしまう、
わたしの贋の目が溺愛するものが美しいとすれば
そうではないと言うことは一体なにを意味するのだろう？
そのものが美しくないとすれば 愛する者の目は他の人々のようには真実を見ることがないということを 愛は十分に示すことになる、
それは可能だろうか？ああ、どうしたら愛する者の目が真実を見ることができるだろうか 見つめることと溢れる涙でそんなにも悩まされているのに？
それゆえわたしが真実を見誤ったとしてもなんら不思議ではない
夜が明けるまで太陽は自らの姿を見ることがない、
おお、狡猾なキューピッドよ！おまえは涙でわたしの目を見えなくする
よく見える目があなたの忌まわしい罪科を見出してしまわないように。
