なぜわたしの詩句には目新しい装飾がなく
変化も素早い転換もほとんどないのだろう？
時代の流行に合わせて わたしは
新たに見出された手法や斬新な言葉の組み合わせに目を向けるべきではないのだろうか？
なぜわたしはいつまでもひとつのことを同じように書き、
よく知られた装いで創作し続けるのだろうか？
それゆえ すべての言葉がそれらの出自や系統図を示しながら
ほとんどわたしの名を告げるというのに、
おお、恋人よ、わたしはいつもあなたのことを書くのだ
そしてあなたと愛のことがいまなおわたしのテーマなのだ
だからわたしにとって最善なのは使い古された言葉を新しく装わせることだ
すでに使われたものをふたたび使うことだ
なぜなら太陽が日々出没をくりかえすように
わたしの愛もまたすでに語られたことを語り続けているのだから。
