どの詩人がもっとも巧みに表現しているだろうか？
あなただけがあなたであるというこの豊かな称賛の言葉を上回る表現を
いずれの詩人がなしえているだろうか？
あなたに匹敵する詩表現が生み出された例を示す言葉の宝庫は
いずれの詩人の領域に埋め込まれているのだろうか？
表現すべき対象にささやかな栄光さえ与えることもない詩人のペンは
貧しい言葉だけを書き記す
だが あなたのことを書く詩人が ありのままのあなたを
伝えることができるなら、その詩には尊厳が与えられる、
詩人には 自然が輝かせているものを損なうことなしに
あなたの中に書かれたものを写し取らせればいいのだ
そういう写しは詩人の機知に栄誉を与え
その文体は至る所で称賛されるろう、
あなたが称賛にこだわり、あなたへの称賛の言葉を損なうならば
折角のあなたの生来の美質に汚点を与えることになるだろう。
